Matt Costa Announces New Album “Yellow Coat” + New Single “Avenal” May 07, 2020

Matt Costa announced the release of his brand new full-length album, Yellow Coat on Friday, September 11. Produced by Alex Newport, Yellow Coat is a masterpiece of heartbreak, equal parts lost Sixties AM radio hits, folk-pop beauty and dark night of the soul music. Yellow Coat is the product of Costa penning letters to himself about the end of a relationship that had lasted almost a decade.

“Avenal,” the album’s opening track, was conceived and written on a going-nowhere trip a few hundred miles northeast of LA, and is a gently swinging tune written from a “searching” place in which Costa was both running away from something and trying to find himself at the same time.
