NO WIN Releases New Single “New Year”, Announces ‘Enhanced CD’ EP Out March 31, West Coast Tour Dates with Together Pangea Kick Off Tonight Jan 19, 2022
Today, NO WIN has released the single “New Year” to kick off a tour with Together Pangea that starts tonight in Santa Cruz, CA. The Los Angeles-based band has also announced the release of a new EP, Enhanced CD, slated for release March 31st on Dangerbird Records.
With “New Year,” NO WIN leader Danny Noguieras, drummer Jeff Enzor, bassist David Jerkovich and guitarist Juan Linan fearlessly cruise the constellations of power pop, rock and punk, spreading the joyful gospel of a big, welcoming guitar hook and rock songs as vehicles for lighthearted, approachable fun.
About the new single, Noguieras says, “David and I were in the studio together and I was listening to a lot of late 90s early 00s alt/indie rock. It’s an attempt to make something uplifting in a dark time and refuting the endless self-improvement narrative being pushed in those early quarantine days. Just trying to relax and ride it out, while also feeling insane and desperate to make music instead of binge watching doomsday news coverage. Hopefully some Everclear vibes came through because I was hoping they would.”
“No resolutions cause I don’t feel like proving myself to myself again,” Nougieras declares as NO WIN delivers a buoyant 90s-adjacent thrill. “New Year’s” trebly riff rides atop its whiskey-soaked instrumental, and when Noguieras asks, “Don’t you think it’s time for you to cut yourself a little slack?”, it’s practically impossible not to answer YES with an emphatic punch in the air.
NO WIN’s 2019 debut full-length, downey – a rowdy love letter to Noguiera’s hometown – saw the band fully lean into pop melodies with raggedy edges and an appropriately nonchalant eye across 29 exhilarating minutes.
Noguieras founded NO WIN as a solo act in 2015, leaving behind the suburbs and the emo and Americana bands where he cut his teeth to embed himself in the LA scene. He performed at DIY shows with a variety of bands up and down the west coast and along the way began recording bands in makeshift spots around the city. He went on to run Balboa Recording Studio in LA’s Glassell Park neighborhood where he has worked with The Regrettes, Together Pangea, Lukas Graham, Mean Jeans and others.
