Minus the Bear are supporting Record Store Day 2012 (Saturday, April 21) by releasing a limited edition 7” vinyl piece exclusively to participating indie record stores.

The Your Private Sky/South Side Life 7” is limited to a pressing of 1,000 hand-numbered copies on black vinyl. On Saturday, April 21, visit your local record shop to pick up the limited edition release.

For the last three months, Minus the Bear have been locked away in various Seattle studios with producer (and former Minus the Bear member) Matt Bayles crafting their fifth album. Follow @minusthebear on Twitter for photos and information on the new album, coming summer 2012.

Minus the Bear are taking a break from recording their fifth album in Seattle for a 3-date Southeastern jaunt kicking off Thursday, February 23rd in Charleston, SC.

In celebration of Minus the Bear‘s 10-year anniversary, the Seattle based quintet is hitting the road for the month of October, into November with something special for their ever-growing fan base: To commemorate a decade of music the band will be integrating a performance of their 2002 debut album, Highly Refined Pirates, (in its entirety) into their full sets.

Since their formation in 2001, Minus the Bear have released several EPs and four albums, the latest being 2010’s OMNI, which garnered extensive praise from critics and fans alike. In support of OMNI, the band has been hard at work touring worldwide.

Ticket pre-sale is up now on the band’s website for all dates, and fans can add to their order an exclusive Minus the Bear t-shirt, or an autographed copy of Highly Refined Pirates on vinyl. The band’s first EP, This Is What I Know About Being Gigantic will also be released on vinyl for the first time.

Seattle’s beloved Minus the Bear are offering the brand new six-song Hold Me Down EP as a free download through their website to kick off the band’s headlining tour with Skysaw & The Constellations.

The Hold Me Down EP includes the album version of “Hold Me Down,” the b-side “Broken China,” live versions of “My Time”, “Into The Mirror”, and “Hold Me Down” recorded at Dangerbird Studios in Los Angeles, and “My Time (Thomas Mitchener MitchMix)” – the winning fan-created version of “My Time” from the band’s recent remix contest.

Minus the Bear kick off another round of tour dates this week with their Dangerbird labelmates Skysaw (co-helmed by acclaimed Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin), and Atlanta based band The Constellations.

Minus the Bear have announced new tour dates and three festival appearances to support their video & new single “Hold Me Down”. The second single from OMNI follows the band’s rock roots and elevates it into what might be their most arena ready single. “Hold Me Down” is a brood-to-a-soar rock gem of a song while OMNI’s first single “My Time” is more synth pop; the two songs combined capture the essence of Minus the Bear perfectly. Both are quite divergent in the rock spectrums and both are the distinct pop sound of Minus the Bear.

Beginning October 18th in Eugene, OR, Minus the Bear will embark on a U.S. headlining tour in continued support of their latest album, OMNI, which Alternative Press praised as “the perfect album to launch Minus the Bear into another dimension entirely” and Paste Magazine simply called “the group’s most explosive record.” The tour will also include a performance at this year’s Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans on October 31st with Muse, Weezer, MGMT, and labelmates Fitz and The Tantrums, among many others.

The tour will be preceded by a show on September 30th in the band’s hometown of Seattle to benefit The Pablove Foundation, a non-profit organization to fight pediatric cancer. Purchase tickets today.
