Fitz and The Tantrums have started recording their sophomore album in Los Angeles with producer Tony Hoffer (Beck, M83, Depeche Mode, Phoenix).

Follow the band’s progress in the studio on their new recording blog at http://fitzandthetantrums.com. The band is constantly posting videos, photos, and info about the new album.

The album won’t be released until the fall, but in the meantime, download a 5-song live/remix EP from Fitz and The Tantrums by entering your information below. The EP includes 4 songs recorded live at House of Blues in Boston, plus “Breakin’ The Chains of Love (Brand New Karate World Remix).”

Filmed over the course of three sold-out shows, Fitz and The Tantrums Live At The Metro captures the band at their boisterous best, delivering soul-shaking versions of the hits “Moneygrabber,” “Don’t Gotta Work It Out,” “L.O.V.” and other gems from their acclaimed debut album Pickin’ Up The Pieces.

On Saturday, April 21st at 9pm EST, Live At The Metro will premiere in all its high-definition glory on Palladia TV.

Los Angeles soul act Fitz and The Tantrums have been named the official house band for the 17th annual Critics Choice Movie Awards, airing January 12, 2012 at 8pm on VH1.

The event will be hosted this year by comedians Paul Scheer (The League, 30 Rock) and Rob Huebel (The Descendants, I Love You Man) and will be broadcast live from The Palladium in Hollywood, California.

Earlier this year, Fitz and The Tantrums made their way to the top of VH1’s You Oughta Know ranks and their debut album Pickin’ Up The Pieces earned rave reviews in a slew of national outlets including USA Today, Spin, and Rolling Stone which more recently voted them in as the “Hot Band” of their October “Hot List” issue.

Fitz and The Tantrums are rolling right into 2012 in style! To follow-up their string of sold out shows across the country, the band has just added more winter tour dates to get them through the entire month of January.

Fitz and The Tantrums went down to Wall Street yesterday to play “MoneyGrabber” and “Dear Mr. President” for Occupy Wall Street protesters in Zuccotti Park.

Political action website MoveOn.org sent cameras along and filmed the band’s performance for the protesters.

Fitz and The Tantrums will be playing at #OccupyWallStreet tomorrow (November 10th) at 11:30am in New York City’s Zuccotti Park.

The band, who are slated to do a sold out headlining show at NYC’s Terminal 5 that evening, will perform stripped down versions of their songs, “Moneygrabber” and “Dear Mr. President,” appropriate selections from their current Pickin’ Up The Pieces album.

Band frontman Michael Fitzpatrick adds, “We wanted to show our support to the Occupy Wall Street protestors everywhere who are keeping the focus on the culture of greed that is pervasive in our financial institutions and the lack of reform and accountability that has taken place. We are not anti-capitalist but we are not in support of an untethered Wall Street without regulations and without the Glass-Steagall act that protected our society after the great depression up until the 1980’s. We Need Reform Now.”

This Saturday, January 29, musicians from around the country are gathering at Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI for a special concert to benefit The Pablove Foundation.

The concert will feature a rare, acoustic headlining set from Brian Aubert and Nikki Monninger of Silversun Pickups, along with performances from their Dangerbird Records labelmates Fitz and The Tantrums and Maritime. Other musicians playing the event include Goran (of The Gufs) playing an acoustic set, as well as Milwaukee’s Jaill, Cory Chisel, Rusty Ps and Prophetic with DJ Madhatter, Juniper Tar and Bascom Hill.

Joining together in the fight against children’s cancers, The Pablove Foundation and Dangerbird Records are once again collaborating to present a benefit concert at Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI on Saturday, January 29th, 2011.

This special evening of music will feature a rare, acoustic headlining set from Brian Aubert and Nikki Monninger of Dangerbird’s own Silversun Pickups, along with performances from their labelmates Fitz and The Tantrums and Maritime. Additional entertainment includes an unplugged set from Goran (of The Gufs) as well as Milwaukee’s Jaill, Cory Chisel, Rusty Ps and Prophetic with DJ Madhatter, Juniper Tar and Bascom Hill.

All proceeds directly benefit Pablove’s mission to fund pediatric cancer research and advances in treatment, as well as to educate and empower families affected by the disease, while improving the quality of life for children living with cancer.
