Eulogies’ song ‘Day to Day’ appears in the recently released Leap Year, starring two-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams and Matthew Goode. Look for it in a theater near you, and listen to ‘Day to Day’ at Eulogies’ MySpace page.

Eulogies left this morning for a string of west coast dates, before heading to Australia for another run of 7 dates down under. They’ll be selling the above limited edition, hand-screened, signed posters while they’re out, and are also bringing a new limited-edition remix EP.

California pop outfit Eulogies go about their business much like their music: quietly, steadily, and effectively. But when all is said and done, you look at their body of work and it occurs to you that this is indeed a band to be reckoned with. They traversed the country more times this year than most Presidential candidates, had a song featured in an Oscar-nominated film (‘The Wrestler’), and released a critically acclaimed EP and full-length within months of each other.

No rest for the weary, though, as Eulogies have booked two tours this fall: one a West Coast stint with Land of Talk, and the other supporting Seabellies for seven dates all over Australia. Be sure to catch them live if you can, or if you’re more of a ‘comfort of your own couch’ kind of person, look for Eulogies’ video for “Two Can Play” on rotation at MTVu. A movie-goer perhaps? “How To Be Alone” is set to appear in the upcoming film “Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.” The Aussies have already bought in: “Two Can Play” is already the #1 song played on Australia’s biggest alt station, Triple J.

Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz, the son of Dangerbird Records co-founder Jeff Castelaz and Jo Ann Thrailkill, brother of Grady Gallagher, passed away at home on Saturday, June 27 after a 13-month struggle against cancer. Services will be held Wednesday, July 1.

The magnificent six years and six days that were Pablo’s life touched many. His brave journey began when he was diagnosed in May 2008 with Wilms’ Tumor, a rare form of cancer. From the start, the family honestly and courageously documented Pablo’s fight on the PABLOg, a daily diary that, over the course of the year, has evolved into a destination for countless families facing similar difficult questions and challenges. Pablo’s life remains a beacon for hope, and has inspired an outpouring of goodwill and solace from an ever-growing community that spans the globe.

The Pablove Foundation was established shortly after Pablo was diagnosed and will continue to serve in his loving memory. The Foundation makes annual contributions to fund cancer research and treatment at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles’ Saban Research Institute, one of the top cancer research facilities in the United States. Pablove supports music and arts programs, and sponsors play rooms and activities in the soft tumor units at CHLA.

Jeff, Jo Ann and brother Grady would like to express their gratitude for the immeasurable love and support from their family and extended community. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please visit Pablove.org to make a donation.

This Thursday, April 30, Silversun Pickups and Eulogies will perform at a very special benefit for Pablo Castelaz and The Pablove Foundation, at the Echoplex in Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale now for $25 via TicketWeb. Purchase will be limited to two tickets per customer and ONLY available through online purchase, with a scheduled will-call pick-up (No walk-ups). All proceeds will directly benefit The Pablove Foundation (pablove.org), named after Pablo Castelaz, the five-year-old son of Dangerbird Records co-founder Jeff Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann Thrailkill.

On May 17, 2008, Pablo was diagnosed with bilateral Wilms’ Tumor, a rare form of children’s cancer, and has been receiving treatment at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (childrenshospitalla.org).

The Pablove Foundation supports cancer research and cancer patient play activities, music and arts programs. Recently, The Pablove Foundation funded a year of evening and weekend hours in the play room on the fourth floor soft tumor units at CHLA. These ‘units’ are actually an entire floor of the hospital, which is filled with brave, beautiful children at any time of the year. This play room brings immeasurable joy to the heart of a child whose life has been turned upside down in the face of a life-threatening disease and whose world has temporarily been reduced to a small hospital room.

The Pablove Foundation also plans to contribute to cancer research and treatment at CHLA, including the efforts of CHLA’s Saban Research Institute, one of the top cancer research facilities in the United States.

This extraordinary evening will offer select items for sale to help commemorate the night and give back to the above noted charities. In addition to an exclusive, limited edition t-shirt, Give. Listen. Help. Volume 5, will be available for purchase. The two-disc benefit compilation CD was released earlier this year by Filter and Urban Outfitters and features an impressive collection of unique material from some of today’s most recognizable artists including Radiohead, Bloc Party, Oasis, as well as the Dangerbird Records roster. Eulogies and The One AM Radio will be playing a show this Sunday (26 APR) at The Echo in Los Angeles for KiDROCKERS. Both bands will perform 4 song sets, and kids will be allowed to ask questions and interact with the artists in between performances. Show starts at 1pm; adults must be accompanied by a kid! After two back-to-back stints on the road already in the books this winter – one with Darker My Love, one with The Duke Spirit – the cerebral California indie-band Eulogies are hitting the road again. This time, they will support shoe-gazer outfit Middle Distance Runner, meaning chill pop tunes for days. Check out the tours page for more details.

Eulogies band leader Peter Walker can also be heard in ‘The Wrestler,’ the surprise hit film featuring an award-winning performance by Mickey Rourke as the washed up professional wrestler Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson. “The biggest thrill is to have my name in the credits of a Darren Aronofsky film,” Walker said. “The song actually fits the theme of the wrestler coming to terms with – and at the same time, missing – his past.” He contributed the original song ’39 Stars’ to the film, which plays during the thrift store scene. Walker added, “There’s usually good indie rock playing in real-life thrift stores.”

‘Here Anonymous,’ the band’s upcoming full-length record, is set for release on April 7th.

Eulogies is part of Playboy’s second annual Rock the Rabbit program, and is featured in the March Music Issue of Playboy magazine. It hit newsstands Friday February 13th – pick up a copy (like you need an excuse) or check out the feature HERE.

Don’t miss Eulogies frontman Peter Walker’s “39 Stars” in “The Wrestler,” starring Mickey Rourke and in theaters now. The film features songs by Bruce Springsteen and Guns N’ Roses, and earned Gloden Globes for both Rourke and Springsteen.

Dangerbird is taking over the newly minted Space 15 Twenty in Hollywood next Tuesday (16 DEC) for a benefit night in honor of The Pablove Foundation, supporting pediatric cancer research at Childrens Hospital LA. The evening will include live sets from Eulogies, The One AM Radio and Sara Lov, along with DJ sets by Silversun Pickups, Jimmy Tamborello (Postal Service, Dntel) and Daedelus. Their debut, “Eulogies” (released in September and produced by Dangerbird labelmate Hrishikesh Hirway of the One AM Radio), introduces a cast of characters touched by death and less inevitable trials of the human spirit, framing their stories in tones both wistful and resolute.

Eulogies played their brains out Halloween night at Schuba’s in Chicago. Dressed as dead Cub Scouts (murdered by an evil Brownie) the band slayed through their set. Check out a review of the show HERE, and for a closer look at the gore click HERE.

My Old Kentucky Blog has released its preview of this year’s NFL season, including a “theme” song for each team. They picked Eulogies’ “One Man” as the song that best captures the Miami Dolphins this season. Check it out. And CMJ has just jumped into a growing line of glowing reviews for the forthcoming Eulogies record – in stores this Tuesday.

We are excited to welcome Eulogies – a new band – to the Dangerbird roster. Well, sort of new, because Eulogies is actually the new project from Peter Walker and his touring band, Tim Hutton and Chris Reynolds. They’ve completed their self-titled debut album, with Walker and The One AM Radio’s Hrishikesh Hirway co-producing. My Morning Jacket/Sleater-Kinney cohort John Goodmanson mixed the album.
